How To Start a Manifestation Journal
When it comes to the Law of Attraction, it can be difficult to know where to start.
From thinking about your dream life to figuring out how to take inspired action, there are so many different concepts and techniques that it can be overwhelming to even think about.
One of the simplest things you can do is begin a manifestation journal. A manifestation journal can help you keep track of what you want, what your goals are, and exactly how to achieve them.
If you’re ready to start manifesting what you want in life, here’s how to get started. I’ve put together my favourite manifestation journal ideas, prompts and tips to get you going in this handy guide.
Why Start a Manifestation Journal?
A manifestation journal is a fantastic tool to help you figure out what your true desires are and how to achieve them. Often we forget what it is that we want because our minds are so busy with the day-to-day grind of life. Or, we feel uncomfortable thinking too much about what it is that we truly want because we worry about what others around us might think about it.
Starting a manifestation journal will help you to take the time to think through your goals, dreams, and plans so that you can move closer towards achieving them. The process of writing helps to bring clarity and direction as you begin to create a map for how you will achieve your goals.
A manifestation journal is also a great place to document what comes up in your life that may seem out of alignment with what it is that you really want. When we become conscious of the things that are holding us back from achieving our goals, we can then begin to shift ourselves in a more positive direction.
By writing your desires down in your manifestation journal, you make a commitment to yourself and to the Universe around you that you want these things in your life. You also create an opportunity for the Universe to help you achieve these goals. The Universe wants you to succeed and by taking the time to write down your hopes and dreams, you are signaling that you are ready for this success to manifest in your life.

How To Start a Manifestation Journal
Step 1: Choose Your Format
There are lots of different ways to format a manifestation journal. You can invest in a gorgeous handmade notebook or simply use a plain one, a bullet journal, a document file, or even a blog. When starting a manifestation journal, it’s up to you. You can choose whatever format is comfortable for you so that the process of writing down your daily thoughts will be as easy as possible. If you are not sure what format will work best, start with a simple notebook and see how it goes.
Choosing a format now will ensure that you create enough structure around your process of personal development. This will make it much easier for you to write in your journal consistently and also to see your goals and dreams evolve over time.
Step 2: Set Your Intentions
As you begin to form your manifestation journal, it’s a great idea to take a moment and set your intentions for why you want to create this book. What is the primary reason that you want to start a manifestation journal? Is it because you’re feeling stuck in life and not sure how to achieve the goals you have set out for yourself? Is it because you want to make positive changes in your life and need the tools to help you do so? Or maybe because you aren’t sure what it is you really want in life, and you are hoping your journal might help to clarify this.
Start off by getting clear on why you are doing this. What is important to you about creating a manifestation journal? Set some intentions around what specifically it is that you hope will come out of using this process.
Step 3: Visualise!
Visualisation is one of the most important parts of manifestation. Our minds can often play tricks on us, and visualising is a way to remove the doubt that may come up as you start this manifestation process. Take a moment now to close your eyes and visualise what it is that you want for yourself. What does success look like to you? How would you feel if everything in your life was working out the way you wanted them to?
As you visualise, be as specific as possible. Imagine everything from the details of how this perfect life will look to the emotions you will feel. You can use this as a way to clear away any mental resistance that may come up as you begin writing in your manifestation journal.
Step 4: Use Your Journal To Manage Your Thoughts
Manifestation works by bringing you your thoughts, so it’s important that you are clear on what exactly it is that you want. You can’t send out mixed messages to the Universe if you want to make sure things manifest the way they are intended.
When you write in your manifestation journal, be as specific as possible about what it is that you want and how you truly feel about it. Don’t write down something that you don’t truly want, or things that others want for you, or what you think you are supposed to want. Just write about the thing that really, truly matters to you.
Step 5: Schedule Time to Write
When creating a manifestation journal, make sure that you are consistent with how often you write in it. You can do this by prioritising it in your schedule. Choose an amount of time every day that you will spend writing in your journal and stick to this as much as possible. It helps if you write at the same time each day, such as first thing in the morning, last thing at night, or during your lunch break.
If you don’t make your journal a priority, it’s easy for other things to take over and begin to fill up your schedule. If you are someone who often feels overwhelmed, finding the time to write in your journal may be challenging. This is why it’s helpful to begin with creating small windows of time for this activity each day until you are able to make writing in your manifestation journal a part of your everyday life.
Step 6: Use Manifestation Journal Prompts
If you would like some help getting started with your journaling, I’ve provided a list of manifestation journal prompts below. You can also create your own prompts to use if there is something specific you would like to look at in more depth.
Using journal prompts can be extremely useful when working with this manifestation process. It helps you to focus your mind on the specific details of the manifestation process and exactly how you can make it come to fruition.
These prompts can be used by themselves or in conjunction with one another. They don’t need to be answered all at once, and they can be revisited again later if you find that you would like to update your vision and goals. Enjoy and happy manifesting!
